Prabhupāda is still asking me about Bhubaneswar. He looks here from Goloka Vrindavan, wanting to know how the work is progressing. Jogyatā-vicāre, kichu nāhi pāi, tomāra karuṇā sāra — “My eternal spiritual father, I have no qualification. I am most unfit and fallen. What can I do without your mercy?” Kākere garuḍa kare — The mercy of guru is so powerful that it can make a crow into Garuda. Karuṇā nā hoile, kāṇḍiyā kāṇḍiyā, prāṇa nā rākhibo āra — “O Śrīla Prabhupāda, if you do not shower your causeless mercy upon this most degraded disciple of yours, I will only cry and cry until I give up my life.”

I must admit Jagadish Pandit prabhu has very good memories of our Srila Gurudeva maybe we should give him his own column on our website. Call it Drops of Nectar. We might have to fix up those capitals though. That is what we all need nectar about Gurudeva.
We can all rave on about what we do and what we don’t do etc.etc, I am doing this I am doing that, but nectar about our Gurudeva that is what we need. memories and experiences about our Gurudeva.

How about the nectar of the reciprocation of following Srila Gurudeva’s instructions and understanding and serving in his full mission. That would also be a great article, don’t you think? Something that leads to practical surrender and loving service for Srila Gurudeva and the results one gets by doing that.
Let’s go little deeper Nimai-ji. Srila Gurudeva said, “Don’t swim on the surface, you will just get strong waves and fish only. Go deeper and find the invaluable gems”.
Surely, your readers are ready for that type of discussion also. I hope!

Also, it’s not about who is doing this service or that service. That is NOT the point. All of those services, rendered sincerely for Sri Guru and Gauranga’s pleasure, are absolute and therefore of same value on the spiritual platform
The point is, “What ARE the total services required in Srila Gurudeva’s FULL mission, Prabhupada’s mission”?
If we can understand this point first, then we can begin to take our place or roles in executing our services properly, as given by Srila Gurudeva to us, within that overall mission. Then, we can practically show our faith ,surrender and love to Srila Gurudeva!
It’s about Srila Gurudeva’s mission and pleasure. Not our own!
By sincerely trying our best to serve in this way, is the only way to please Srila Gurudeva and Krsna. In fact, Srila Prabhupada has pointedly and repeatedly taught us that, “This is the secret of success in spiritual life”.
SB 3.22.7 Purport
… One has to receive the message of the spiritual master regarding how to act in one’s capacity. For the spiritual master is expert in giving such instructions. This combination, the instruction of the spiritual master and the faithful execution of the instruction by the disciple, makes the entire process perfect.
Srila Vishvanath Thakura describes in his explanation of the verse in Bhagavad-gita, vyavasäyätmikä buddhi, that one who wants to be certain to achieve spiritual success, must take the instruction from the spiritual master, as to what his particular function is.
He should then faithfully try to execute that particular instruction and should consider that, his life and soul.
The faithful execution of the instruction, which he receives from the spiritual master, is the only duty of a disciple, and that will bring him perfection. One should be very careful to receive the message from the spiritual master through the ears and execute it faithfully. That will make one’s life successful.

Also, Radha Gopaljui and Radha Gopinatha and their Temples and Their devotees who are faithfully serving there.
Srila Gurudeva is always watching us and seeing what we are doing with the, “Great Fortune”, which has been entrusted to us.
Let us give up our selfishness and foolishness and rededicate ourselves to what is so dear to Srila Gurudeva and Srila Prabhupada!

The Simple-hearted Put Faith and Get Results
S.B. 9.42.3 BBSR Date: 16-8-93
….But one who is simple, you should understand. he immediately surrenders to the lotus feet of Krishna. Then Krishna protects him. Yes. if you say “shall we accept it like a blind man?” We say, “Put strong faith in the words of sadhu, sastra and Guru.” …What guru says. Guru’s words are Superior.
Father is guru, mother is guru. Spiritual masters, those who are superior, they are gurujanas, superiors. What they say, just accept it, putting full faith in it. Don’t add any of your deliberations to it. Accept it immediately and execute it as it is. That is all beneficial for you.
….No what gurujanas say, superior say, their order should be carried out, “As it is”, without adding any deliberation to it. Yes. He never raised any question. We must follow the foot prints of the mahajanas, great personalities. What they have shown as the path. Don’t add any deliberation to it.
…..What gurujana’s, superiors say, accept it without any deliberation. Don’t add your own deliberation to it. This is beneficial to you. Beneficial to Me and beneficial to everybody. Ram said this thing. Do you understand? Yes. Don’t add any deliberation to it. What gurujana says, what superior says, what spiritual master says, just accept it! Yes. Jagadish pandit your head will be chopped off.”
Yes chopped off. Yes, that’s good. Yes. ”Why my head will be chopped off? “No question. Don’t add any deliberation to it. What is said that’s good. Just accept. As it is! ….Those who are simple hearted persons they accept it. Immediately they accept it. They don’t add any deliberation to it. Then it is all beneficial. Understand me? Yes. Don’t add any deliberation, don’t twist it. Just accept it, execute it, “as it is”. That is all beneficial.
….Those who are simple hearted persons they immediately puts faith in the words of sadhu, sastra, guru. They have no doubt. No tinge of doubt. No slightest doubt. No slightest doubt. Immediately put faith. Immediately they accept. Immediately they get result. And they surrender. Yes.
If someone says “Shall we accept it as a blind man? We won’t think of it? We shouldn’t deliberate upon it first?” NO! ….We say, “Yes, if someone accepts as a blind man, if he is simple hearted, he will very easily come to this path of devotion, devotional path, path of the Absolute Truth.
But one who is a duplicious person, crooked person. Faithless person, no simplicity, he has doubt. He has doubt in the words of sadhu, sastra,and guru. He never accepts it immediately. He never accepts. He thinks of, adds his own deliberation on it, “No No, this will take place, if I accept in this way this will take place, then I will be put into trouble.” This he will think. There will be so many things that he thinks of, many deliberations. He has doubts. He will never accept.
In other words he cannot come to this path of devotional service. He cannot take the path of this truth. Yes. he cannot achieve the supreme perfection of his life. He must be perished ,Yes a faithless person, no faith, he must be perished.
…But one who is my bhakta, who is my devotee, who has no doubt in my words, who is completely surrendered unto me, he is protected. He will never perish. But one who has doubts, a duplicitous person, crooked person, no simplicity, he has doubts in my words the words of sadhu, sastra, guru, he will be perished.
Some may say is it bad that one may compel, will be compelled to accept?” “Hey accept it, accept it, accept it!” Compulsion is there. This question is there. No question of compulsion baba. No question of compulsion. This is a question of spontaneous attraction. One who is simple hearted spontaneously attracted, he immediately puts faith. Yes it’s a fact. No question of compulsion. If compulsion is there you cannot have faith in it. No question of compulsion baba.
One who is a pasandi he has no faith in the words of sadhu, sastra, guru, the words of vaishnava. According to his opinion, his view, there are no vaishnavas. No sadhus at all. There are no sadhus at all? Pasandis opinion Do you understand me? “Oh many sadhus I have seen they are only outwardly sadhus. Putting orange garments, shaved heads, sikha, tilak Hare Krishna Hare Krishna. Great cheaters. They are great cheaters. Yes. They are great cheaters. No vaishnavas, no sadhus. Don’t rely on their words.” The pasandis says. So is there no vaishnavas? As pasandis says?
….Though some sadhus, some vaishnavas, are hypocrites, cheaters. It is not a fact that there are no vaishnavas, sadhus. It’s not a fact. That is said. As long as you have not seen anything bad with a vaishnava don’t say that he is not a vaishnava, he is a cheater. Don’t say so. Do you understand ?
We accept “yes he is a vaishnava , he is vaishnava guru. yes he is following. I have not seen I have not heard anything”. So we accept. A simple hearted person he accepts. But a crooked hearted person, one who has duplicity, he has doubt in it. He cannot accept. He will commit offense. Definitely he will commit offense.

Prabhupada: That is my Gurumahara’s blessing. He wanted; I tried. That’s all. Whatever is being done, it is by his desire. Whatever he desires, that is to be fulfilled.
Yasya deve parä bhaktir yathä deve tathä gurau [SU 6.23]. Therefore, full faith in guru, that is the prime factor of success. Not any other things, no qualifications, no education, only strong faith in guru.Yasya prasädäd bhagavat-prasädaù **. This is the secret.
So whatever little success is there, that was only this qualification, that I wanted to serve him. That’s all. Otherwise, there was no business of coming here at the age of seventy years.

There is no difference, as in they don’t exist. All letters are the same size in most Indian languages. SGGSM: SB Class 910628 – ” He Came and Went……”
….The only thing is to approach Nityananda Prabhu, who is so wonderfully magnanimous, wonderfully merciful, wonderfully munificent. He excuses. Develop attraction towards Nityananda.
….That sinful person came and went. Very freely, indiscriminately Nityananda Prabhu is distributing this prema, which is very difficult even for Brahma to get. He is freely distributing, without discrimination. Still such a sinful person came and went. He cannot touch it.
This is most important. Otherwise there is no way out. How can you chant Hare Krishna? You cannot! It is only a pretension that I am chanting. With a simple heart, giving up all duplicity, pretension. Those who are pretenders are very duplicitous persons. They only pretend. Such pretenders cannot get mercy from Nityananda.
Be simple. Give up all this pretension, duplicity. If you come to Nityananda with such filth in your heart, how can you get the mercy? First, completely cleanse your heart. Give up this pretension. Give up this duplicity and be simple.
With a simple heart say. He knows your heart. He is Supersoul. He knows what is in your heart. He knows. With pretension if you say, “O Nityananda, I am Yours.” Not truly. Nityananda knows this thing. Why are you pretending? Such a pretender, duplicitous person. Only speaking from the lips, not from the heart. How can you get His mercy? Give up all pretension, duplicity, with a simple heart approach Him, “O Nityananda, O Gauranga Mahaprabhu, I am Yours. I completely take shelter at Your lotus feet.”
One who pretends to be sleeping, nobody can wake him up. If he is really sleeping he will wake up by mere sound. Such pretentious persons, duplicitous persons, they cannot get the mercy of Nityananda.
Such an incarnation is Nityananda, such a magnanimous incarnation. Someone who cannot develop attachment to such an incarnation, Narottam Das Thakur says, that most sinful person came and went, just came and went. He cannot get Nitai’s mercy. He freely distributes, still that person cannot get it. came and went.
Be simple. Give up all this duplicity. These are all nasty things, filth. Completely root it out. Make your heart simple. ….
Gour Govinda Swami: That means empty thyself. It’s filled with duplicity.
Devotee: But what happens then. Will I get the mercy of the Lord?
Gour Govinda Swami: How can you get the mercy of the Lord if you are not a simple-hearted person? You are only pretending. You are a pretender. You are pretending to be sleeping.
Mahaprabhu said, Jév jägo, jév jägo, gauracända bole “Jévas, wake up, wake up, wake up! How long will you sleep in the lap of the witch Mäyä?” One who is really sleeping, not pretending, he will wake up by the call of Mahaprabhu, but one who is pretending he can never wake up. Nobody can make him awake. He is a pretender, a duplicitous person.
He never cleanses his heart. His heart is completely filled to the brim with filth. How can he get the mercy? He will never get. That is the first and most important thing.
Devotee: How does it work? Are you doing it by yourself or does it happen by the mercy of guru and Lord Nityananda?
Gour Govinda Swami: The mercy of guru, that is the mercy of Lord Nityananda. Sädhu-guru is a manifestation of Nityananda.
Devotee: But you were saying that unless you get the mercy of guru. . .
Gour Govinda Swami: How can you get the mercy of guru if you are not a simple-hearted person? That I say.
Devotee: If you are trying you will get?
Gour Govinda Swami: Yes, if you are conscious, serious. Now you are becoming simple. And throwing out all this duplicity then you will get. Yes. Be simple. Simplicity is vaishnavism.
I said, and Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja says, “It is better to remain in the species of birds, beasts and animals, inferior species, but don’t be duplicitous. Don’t entertain duplicity. They are not duplicitous but human beings are duplicitous”.
Devotee: Sometimes we find a way to kind of advance in spiritual life and we seem to be doing ok, but then we associate with devotees and some of them are rough. Sometimes we develop also the same mentality because of their association.
Gour Govinda Swami: Because they are such types. They are duplicitous persons. They are only pretending that they are devotees.
Devotee: But by being with them it affects us?
Gour Govinda Swami: Yes, if you do, it must affect you, definitely. If you remain in the association of thieves you must become a thief. If you remain in the association of drunkards you must become a drunkard. That’s a fact. If you remain in the association of liars you will become a liar. Yes.
Therefore we say, associate with real sädhus. One who is very simple, as a child, he is sädhu. Associate with such a person then you will automatically develop such nice quality. If you put strong faith in him, çraddhä.
But if you doubt him then you can’t get. One who is a very simple-hearted person, very easily he puts faith, and he will surrender very easily. Some say, “Shall we blindly follow?” Yes, if you are simple and blindly follow, very easily you will develop this bhakti, and Krishna will protect you.
I appreciate your memories; it makes me cry real tears, right now, remembering his utter simplicity, manifesting from a sea of vast knowledge.
Srila Gurudeva Pastime in Bhubaneshwar:
I remember one time in particular at Bbsr, after SB class, that Srila Gurudeva said, while preparing to come down the temple steps, “Although I am trying to give the highest thing, How many people are coming and are really serious about getting it (Krsna-Prema)?”. Then Guru Maharaja said, “ Not very many at all…..and why is that?…..because Gurudeva is too much heavy and is inflicting too much discipline on his disciples and followers!”.
Then Srila Gurudeva said, “Do you think getting the mercy of Guru and Krsna to achieve the highest goal of Krsna-prema is such a cheap thing?…. That you can maintain your minute independence and act whimsically according to your own liking, and at the same time you will get Krsna-prema?…No No…. Not Possible, Not at all possible….”.
Another time Srila Gurudeva said, “The spiritual master is also testing the prospective disciple or follower to see if that person can be obedient to me, can he follow my instructions, as it is, or is he putting his own deliberation into it?”, then, “Disciple means discipline. Will this person allow Gurudeva to inflict severe discipline on him?”.
Many times Srila Gurudeva would say that, “The spiritual master will put you into ‘a fire’ , the fire of purification. And that fire means to strictly follow, as it is, all of the instructions of the spiritual master. That Gurudeva knows what is best for us, even we do not know what is in our own best interest”.
Let us try to become real disciples and followers of Srila Gurudeva by willfully and cooperatively, “entering into the fire”, as Srila Gurudeva wants. We should always remember that this is for our own betterment and ultimately will qualify us, to first develop Guru Bhakti and then Krsna Bhakti; the supreme benediction of life.
This is what is freely being offered my Mahaprabhu and his dearmost intimate associates, Gaura pryia janas….. Will we become serious and fortunate?, is the question we have to ask ourselves constantly…..
