Devotees Worldwide Hope to Save Samadhi
& Rebuild Bhajan-Kutir
The devotees of ISKCON Bhubaneswar, thanks to their fast response, have been able to temporarily save Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami’s samadhi. While the bulldozer was knocking down the reception, prasadam stall and bookstore building the devotees from Bhubaneswar temple have been able to save the samadhi structure by separating the roof. The right side of the hut was His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhativedanta Swami Prabhupada’s bhajan kutir and the left side of the hut is Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami’s samadhi.
He Lived for 19 Years in the Hut
In 1991, on Lord Nityananda’s appearance day, after 16 years of struggle and hardship, Srila Prabhupada’s last founded project, Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir was completed. The magnificent temple and guesthouse were built under the supervision of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami, who, with complete humility and simplicity, lived for 19 years in a portion of the mud hut that he single handedly built on the order of his most beloved spiritual master Srila Prabhupada.
Srila Prabhupada Stayed There on His Own Request
In 1977 Srila Prabhupada stayed, although better arrangements were made, on his own request in the adjoining room of this mud hut for 17 days waiting for the auspicious day of the holy appearance of Lord Nityananda to lay the foundation stone for the then to be Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir. Srila Prabhupada has daily been worshipped in his bhajan-kutir with full dedication and devotion ever since.
A Cherished Tirtha
In 1996 Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami was placed in samadhi in this hut. The mud hut is a cherished tirtha for many devotees from all over the world.
A Humble Outcry to All ISKCON GBC Members
and Srila Prabhupada’s Disciples
