on 28 August 1995, BhubaneswarVyāsa-pūjā is generally known as the pūjā of Śrī Vyāsadeva or the pūjā of Śrī Gurudeva on his birthday. On the 50th appearance day of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura, this vyāsa-pūjā was first observed in this Gaudiya Vaiṣṇava line. From that day onwards it has been observed every year. What has he said about vyāsa-pūjā ? He said, “Let vyāsa-pūjā be known as the pūjā of all gauḍīya guru-varga ācāryas”. From this statement of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura, we can understand what the real purpose of vyāsa-pūjā is. It is not only the pūjā of Śrila Vyāsadeva, or the pūjā of Śrī Kṛṣṇa or Śrī Gaura or the pūjā of Śrī Guru. That is not real vyāsa-pūjā. It is the pūjā of pure gauḍīya guru-varga ācāryas, this is what real vyāsa-pūjā is.

I read in the booklet that an astrologer had said that Gaur Govinda Swami came here from Vaikuntha. It was only in later years he decided to accept disciples.
Why would a pure devotee already in Vaikuntha decide to come to the material world? There must be a deeper reason than to accept disciples.
Such eternal associates of the Lord come to the material world on the order of the Lord, to fulfill the mission and desire of Krsna to deliver the fallen conditioned souls.
Srila Prabhupada wrote in a purport that, “Bhakti, Bhagavan and Bhakta are not of this material world.”
If Krsna does not appear here, personally or through His pure devotee, then how will bhakti manifest here in the material world?…. And, how would our ignorance be destroyed?
Also, such dear devotees want to come here to participate in the lila of Mahaprabhu to taste the internal mood of separation, exhibited in the mood and example of Srimate Radharani.
There is no higher taste or experience than that exhibited by Sriman Mahaprabhu and one and all want to participate and witness such prema-lila.
As Krsna comes here due to internal and external reasons, so does His dear eternal associates. Hare Krsna!
