~ One Sat-Śisya Can Do Wonders ~
Sent in by Goloka Vrindavana Dasa
Devotee: He was a pure Vaiṣṇava.
Śrīla Gour Govinda Swami: Prabhupāda has such purity. He is a pure devotee. He has such strength. He speaks pure kṛṣṇa-kathā that is not different from Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is all-attractive; therefore everyone is attracted to someone who speaks pure kṛṣṇa-kathā. This and only this is the thing required. If you do this then you are the true successor to Prabhupāda. You are a real devotee, sat-śisya, a true disciple. He will be very happy with you. Prabhupāda will think, “Oh, I have made one sat-śisya who could do this for me.” Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Mahārāja was a powerful Vaiṣṇava. There are no such Vaiṣṇavas nowadays. Just prior to his departure from this planet he called all of his disciples and said, “No one is my disciple.” What does that mean? That means he considered that no one had followed his instruction as it is. They had twisted his instructions and added their own deliberations. Therefore he considered that no one was his disciple. He said, “If I could make just one sat-śisya, then I would think my guru-ship is successful.” Do you understand what he meant? It has a very deep purport. Thousands and thousands of disciples may be there, but if there is just one sat-śisya then he can do wonders. He can do everything. He can fulfill the purpose of his guru, the desires of his guru. He will get all the blessings, all the mercy from his guru. He will be empowered.
(From a darśana with His Divine Grace Śrīla Gour Govinda Swami in Barcelona, Spain, on the 22th August 1994)
One sat-sisya, pure devotee – Only One
Aspiring disciple – “Can you help me advance in spiritual life ?”
Srila Gour Govinda Swami Guru Maharaja – “How can I help you ? Unless you accept what I say how can I help you ? It is reciprocal not one-sided…As it is very difficult to get sat-guru, it is also very difficult to get sat-sisya.
Therefore Srila Bhaktissidanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupadaji Maharaja, (he is
such a powerful Vaisnava; no Vaisnava is like that nowadays) just prior to his departure from this planet, he called all his disciples. He said, “Nobody is my disciple because nobody has accepted my instruction as it is. They have not followed it, they have added their own deliberation to it acting according to their own whims. So, nobody is my disciple, nobody is under my discipline !”
So, if someone is not prepared to come under the strict discipline of Guru, how Guru
can help him ?!
He said, “If I would have trained one sat-sisya, pure devotee – only one – then I
think my guruship is successful.” He said like that. So, what are you asking !”

I remember when I first went to Bbsr and heard from Gurudeva that, “Your life no longer belongs to you…. You now belong to your Gurudeva and you should be prepared to enter into the fire and ultimately die for him, if it is so required”.
Let us try our best to loving serve and follow the instructions and follow in the footsteps of such a sat-sisya as Srila Gurudeva, Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja, and get his merciful glance!
If not, we have failed in our service and to please our dear most Srila Gurudeva, then what is the point of our maintaining this body, which is nothing but a bag of stool, puss and urine???
We should seriously consider what we are doing with this most valuable human form of life. That life, whereby we could become so fortunate as to come in contact with such a dear pure devotee of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna………..
Thank you for your consideration, for Gurudeva’s pleasure.

Srila Gurudeva Keeps On Eye On His Disciples
“For the sat-sisya, if his guru has disappeared from the planet and
gone to the nitya-dhama, the eternal abode of Krsna, still the guru
keeps an eye on his sat-sisya from that abode. Sad-guru is very
powerful. He is the manifestation of the caitya-guru, the Paramatma
in the heart.
From the abode of Krsna that sad-guru inculcates the
potency into the heart of the sat-sisya, and thereby attracts him.
The sisya may be in the same body or he may have left his body and
taken birth in some other place. Still, wherever he may be, the sad-
guru who is there in the nitya-dhama keeps an eye on him.”
